Princesses Promote Purity
As little girls, we're introduced to fairy tales that feature princesses that we loved and wanted to be friends with! So much that we all had that one princess we liked most and sometimes imitated. Some of our parents may have or still might call us "princess" but we don't honestly believe that we're royalty. In fact, we know that we're nothing close to it, right? Well, we're actually wrong. We indeed are royalty and most certainly have riches and treasures with our very names on them! Our Heavenly Father is the King of kings, which makes us richer than anyone alive! As children of God, we're promised the inheritance of the kingdom of heaven! So we are royalty! Living according to the word of God guarantees us our own crown of life!
So now that we've established that we're royalty thanks to our King Jesus, I want to talk about one of the expectations of us as God's daughters, as princesses. I want to talk about purity. We talk about the basics of following God's word all of the time. Forgive. Love everyone. Don't lie. Give freely. Treat others with respect. But we seem to ignore Christ's command to treat our own body's with that same respect! Being apart of a royal family, people automatically place expectations on that family. People expect them to carry themselves with grace and elegance. Royals are expected to live a certain lifestyle that honors their family's legacy! I want you to realize that being apart of the body of Christ is equivalent to being in a royal family! We serve the King of kings!! We're all His children. We're the royal family above all others! So as daughters of a king, God expects us to carry ourselves with grace and elegance. He expects us to to live a righteous lifestyle and make righteous decisions to honor our family's legacy, including not having saving sex (again) until marriage.James 1:12
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
When you give your life over to Jesus Christ and are now saved, your life is no longer your own. Your body is not your own. Your body becomes a temple where Jesus dwells. That alone should make us want to protect our bodies, but it doesn't. We seem to to forget that Jesus bought us with an incomparable price by giving His own life for us on the cross and no man is to touch our bodies until he also pays a price by marrying us! 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body". It doesn't matter if you're a virgin or not! God wants to forgive you & exchange your past for a future of holiness through Him!
If a man does not support your celibacy, then He's a man without Jesus living in his heart. And a man living without Jesus is a man we should live without! Let's be patient enough to allow our heavenly Father to bring one of His son's to us. A son of God will honor God firstly. He'll pray for and with you! He'll respect your body & mind. He'll care about the condition of your soul. He'll love you the way Christ loved the church. A son of God will know that you're worth the wait & will wait as long as he needs to!
You may be reading this thinking "I already know all of this!" and if you're living purely by honoring the Lord with your body then praise God! But I want to challenge you, as I've challenged myself. Let's commit to promoting purity to others! I've sinned against my own body which pulled me further away from my savior & left me broken. But Christ puts our broken hearts together again. He forgives, so I have to forgive myself. You have to forgive yourself. The world has convinced our generation that sex before marriage is acceptable when it isn't. God has called His people to stand up and use their voices to speak His truth regardless of how loud the world screams lies!
You're SO loved,
Erica Xx
