We all know the very popular saying "Actions speak louder than words" I'm sure. Well I'd like to put a spin on that and say "Your appearance speaks louder than words". Often times it's not what you say, or what you do, that grabs people's attention. It's how you look! Hear me out: If you walk around saying you're a Christian, a Godly woman, a "Proverbs 31" woman who serves God with all of her heart, but has on daisy dukes and a bra as a shirt... who's going to believe you? Now I agree with the statement "It doesn't matter what others think" to a certain extent! But when it comes to young women who are after God's own heart, we should represent Christ in ALL aspects of our lives, including our closet! Meaning as young women of God, we shouldn't look like everybody else just like we shouldn't act like everybody else. God holds us to a standard that is way above the ways of this world (including some of these fashion trends today)! One of my favorite scriptures in the Bible that talk about this is Proverbs 31:25 "Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come." The Bible referred to strength and dignity being her "clothing" but meant her characteristics were just that. But doesn't the way we dress reflect our character? I'd say yes. How can we dress in a way that shows good character, characteristics of a virtuous woman?
One word. MODESTLY! Now this word scares many women because we associate it with turtle necks & skirts that drag the ground and this word somehow demeans modern day clothing! Although a lot of the modern day trends are not acceptable for a "Proverbs 31" woman to wear, there are many styles & trends that ARE okay for Christian women to wear. Stop thinking that giving your life over to God means that you give away your style too! You can be modern, trendy AND still represent Christ in a way that is pleasing unto Him. Don't believe me? (I honestly was not a supporter of dressing leggings up until I saw this picture) Again, because leggings are so tight & fitted, it's a must that you chose a loose fitting blouse that gives your outfit some balance so that you don't look like you're going to exercise! lol |

| SHORTS: Many Christians don't approve of women wearing shorts. Maybe it's because Daisy dukes are extremely revealing, which I agree, they are. BUT, there is nothing wrong with a pair of shorts that fit your body type and is the right length! Here we have a very chic outfit where a pair of black shorts are dressed up (they fit her body type, not too short, not too long). |

Ya see? We don't have to cover ourselves up fro head-to-toe in order to "look the part" of a Christian woman, but it is crucial that we do cover up the parts of our bodies that only should be revealed in the sacred place of our bedroom with our HUSBANDS! Lol Sidenote: Don't be discouraged if you can't find these exact outfits! Start building your modern-modest wardrobe by getting one piece at a time! (pay attention to sales and clearance racks!) and before you know it, your girlfriends will be shopping in your closet that represents what a "Proverbs 31" woman should dress like :)
